About us:

Colin's Bird Tables was started by my Dad about 15 years ago from his workshop in the back garden. Dad is a joiner by trade and has spent his working life in this field. Out of work Dad loves working on projects and designing new products. In 1992 he designed and built his first rocking horse for my children. Carved by hand and with a time capsule in his tummy, Apple (the horse) has provided many hours of pleasure to my children and their friends and is now patiently waiting for the grandchildren to come along. In total Dad created 4 beautiful rocking horses and all are as solid and beautiful now as when they were first made.

Bird tables started as a project around 2002 and Dad has again been designing and updating the collction which he took to sell at local craft fairs. From the bird tables came the dovecote, planters, wheelbarrows, bird boxes and many other items.

As main carer for my mum, dad never had the opportunity to expand and develop the business and in (2017) he announced that he wanted to retire and planned to sell Colin's Bird Tables on. My partner and I discussed this and wanting to keep it in the family, with dad being able to provide input and designs on a more casual basis, we bought the business from him and moved it to a small unit on Bodiam Business Park.

A few weeks tuition and we found ourself at our first event, The Laughton Steam Fair. We were so proud to have made a variety of tables along with the 6 patents from dad to display. Feedback was good and our first orders were in.

Now 4 months into the project, we too have a dovecote almost complete, hanging bird tables and a new 'oriential' style was due to be unveiled at the next big Vintage Fair at Firle Place in August, We actually showed both of them for the first time at the Mad Hatters tea Party 3 weeks earlier then expected.

Working together in partnership with the introduction of new bird tables, stands, and a break away colour scheme it would be fair to say that life is no longer dull or boring. In fact we are never home but it is good fun, our unit is in a beautiful country location and the weekends are idyllic and somewhat a breath of freshair from the rat race of the week.

Its now October the orders are flowing nicely, the shows we have attended have been truly inspirational and well recieved, we are looking forward to leeds castle christmas show in December and 2018 looks very promising.
